During my junior year in high school my mom, sister and I decided to do a "Girls Trip" on my spring break. We decided to travel to France, Vienna, and Budapest in a week. Our first destination was to Paris, France.
On our first day we went to see Sacre Coeur the second most famous church in Paris. It’s a little ways from other attractions, but has an unbelievable view of the city. They have a beautiful statue of Saint Michael and the Dome. I loved how everybody was around the grounds just relaxing on the grass and enjoying the view.
Next, we saw Notre-Dame Cathedral, and words cannot give it enough justice because it was so magnificent and has so much detail and history to it. Also, if you see it at night, they light the building with some major flood lights, which becomes a really great photograph.
The next morning we went to the Louvre. Honestly, as an art lover I could spend days in this place it had so many pieces. We saw the Louvre Pyramid, The Mona Lisa, The Winged Victory of Samothrace, Michelangelo’s dying slave, Venus de Milo, Liberty Leading the People, The Wedding at Cana and after all those fantastic pieces we still had so much more.
After the Louvre we walked to the Arc de Triumph and Place de Concorde. The arc is a home to an unknown solider that was buried in 1921 and they light a flame every day at 6:30 AM without fail in honor of him.
The next day we went and saw Les Invalides, which is where Napoleon’s tomb is located. Napoleon is buried inside 12 caskets, with each casket being made from different materials from the 12 regions of France. After the Les Invalides we went and saw the Eiffel Tower, we didn’t go up unfortunately because we didn’t want to feel claustrophobic but it’s still a great view regardless. We went at dusk and then went across the street for some dinner and were able to see the Effile Tower at night when all the lights came on.
Though I loved the city the people were not my favorite. However, I can't wait to have another trip down the road to Paris. I hope you have a great experience and eat lots of sweets because they make the best!
Bon Voyage!
